Setting a Higher Standard for E-Prescribing

DAW Systems began with a problem our founder experienced firsthand as a practicing physician: writing prescriptions was time-consuming, handwriting introduced risk and pharmacies often needed clarification. Working alongside other physicians, he developed the first version of ScriptSure in 1985 to make prescribing faster, clearer and more accurate. That practical solution became D.A.W. Systems, named for “Dispense As Written.”

DAW was developing prescribing software before electronic prescribing as we know it existed and before computers were common in many medical practices. As healthcare technology advanced, DAW evolved with it, expanding from prescription generation to secure electronic transmission, clinical safety checks, medication history, formulary information, electronic prescribing of controlled substances and electronic prior authorization.

Still founder-led today, DAW remains close to the physicians, veterinarians, pharmacies and technology partners who use its solutions. Their needs continue to shape ScriptSure for healthcare and VetWay for veterinary medicine, helping DAW anticipate industry changes while remaining focused on reliable technology and practical workflows that make prescribing and medication access safer and more efficient.
